Privacy Policy
Effective date: 18 May 2026
TideMy (“we”, “our” or “us”) operates the TideMy platform at tidemy.com. This Privacy Policy explains what personal data we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding that data. By using TideMy you agree to the practices described below.
Certain features of TideMy allow you to create a public profile, publish content publicly, and participate in community or discovery features. If you choose to use those features, some of your content and account information may be visible to other users and to the public.
1. Information We Collect
1.1 Information you provide
- Account and profile data: name, email address, profile picture obtained through Google OAuth, and any username, display name, handle, bio, links, or profile details you add.
- Content and creation data: posts, slideshows, videos, prompts, captions, comments, templates, and other creative assets you upload, generate, or create inside the platform.
- Public profile and community data: content, profile information, avatars, public comments, likes, saves, follows, shares, remixes, showcase submissions, and other material or activity you choose to make public or submit to community-facing features.
- Connected social accounts: access tokens for TikTok and Instagram that you choose to connect. These tokens are stored encrypted and are only used to publish content on your behalf.
- Reports and verification data: information you submit in connection with support requests, abuse reports, copyright, privacy, impersonation, or other complaints, as well as evidence or verification materials we request.
1.2 Information collected automatically
- Log data: IP address, browser type, pages visited, timestamps and error reports.
- Usage data: feature interactions, session duration and in-app events to improve the product.
- Public engagement data: views, impressions, downloads, clicks, shares, saves, remixes, referral information, and similar engagement data relating to public profiles and public content.
- Cookies & local storage: session cookies for authentication and preferences; no third-party advertising cookies.
2. How We Use Your Information
- Provide, operate and improve the TideMy platform.
- Authenticate you via Google OAuth and maintain your session securely.
- Create, display, rank, recommend, distribute, and moderate public profiles, public feeds, discovery pages, template libraries, examples, and other community-facing features.
- Publish content to your connected TikTok and Instagram accounts at your direction.
- Enable other users to view, save, share, remix, adapt, and reuse public content in accordance with the Terms of Service.
- Feature public content in examples, showcases, template libraries, case studies, and marketing materials for the Service.
- Send transactional emails (e.g. receipts, security notices). We do not send marketing emails without your explicit consent.
- Detect and prevent fraud, abuse or security incidents.
- Review reports, investigate complaints, enforce our terms and policies, and protect users, third parties, and the platform.
- Comply with legal obligations.
3. Legal Basis for Processing (GDPR)
If you are located in the European Economic Area, we process your personal data under the following legal bases:
- Contract performance: processing necessary to deliver the service you signed up for, including public or private publishing features you choose to use.
- Legitimate interests: security monitoring, fraud prevention, product analytics, moderation, public discovery, protecting rights, and promoting the Service using public examples.
- Consent: where you have explicitly opted in, choose to publish content or profile information publicly where consent is required by law, consent to marketing communications, or give any separate consent required for certain testimonial, endorsement, or advertising uses of your name, likeness, or voice.
- Legal obligation: compliance with applicable law.
4. Data Sharing
We do not sell your personal data. We may share it only with:
- Other users and the public if you choose to use public or community features. Your username, display name, handle, avatar or profile image, bio, public content, captions, prompts, comments, tags, engagement data, and associated metadata may be visible to other users, visitors, search engines, and third parties.
- Service providers (e.g. cloud hosting, database providers, content delivery providers, moderation providers) under strict data processing agreements.
- Social media platforms (TikTok, Instagram) solely to fulfil your publish requests.
- Professional advisers, complainants, and rights holders where reasonably necessary to investigate, respond to, or resolve copyright, privacy, impersonation, safety, or other legal complaints.
- Law enforcement when required by law or to protect rights, property or safety.
5. Public Profiles and Public Content
If you create a public profile, post to a public feed, submit content to a template library, showcase, example gallery, comment section, or other public area, or otherwise designate content as public, that information may be visible to other users and to the public.
Public content and public profile information may be copied, saved, screen-captured, shared, quoted, remixed, adapted, reposted, indexed by search engines, or further redistributed by others. Public content may therefore not remain private or exclusive, even if you later delete it, change your settings, or close your account.
Do not publish content or profile information publicly unless you are comfortable with that result and have all necessary rights, permissions, releases, and lawful bases to do so. Where we offer visibility settings, you are responsible for choosing the appropriate setting. We may feature public content in feeds, rankings, recommendations, discovery pages, examples, template libraries, showcases, and marketing materials, as described in the Terms of Service. Where applicable law requires separate permission for particular testimonial, endorsement, or advertising uses of your name, likeness, or voice, we may request that permission separately.
6. International Transfers
We may process and store personal data in countries other than your own, including the United States, where data protection laws may differ from those in your jurisdiction. Where required by applicable law, we use appropriate safeguards for cross-border transfers, such as standard contractual clauses or other approved transfer mechanisms.
7. Data Retention
We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, your personal data is erased within 30 days, except where retention is required by law or for legitimate business purposes (e.g. fraud records for up to 7 years).
If you remove public content or close your account, we will stop displaying it in active areas of the Service within a reasonable time where feasible, but copies may remain in backups, logs, search engine caches, public archives, remixes, reposts, screenshots, or other uses by third parties outside our control. We may also retain reports, moderation decisions, and related evidence for as long as reasonably necessary to protect users, enforce our policies, resolve disputes, or comply with law.
8. Security
We use industry-standard security measures including TLS encryption in transit, AES-256 encryption at rest for sensitive tokens, and role-based access controls. However, no system is 100% secure; use a strong, unique Google account password and enable 2FA.
9. Your Rights
Depending on your jurisdiction you may have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you.
- Correct inaccurate data.
- Request deletion of your data.
- Object to or restrict processing.
- Data portability (receive your data in a machine-readable format).
- Withdraw consent at any time.
To exercise any right, email privacy@tidemy.com. We will respond within 30 days.
If you are located in the EEA, UK, or Switzerland, you may also lodge a complaint with your local data protection supervisory authority. If your content has been made public, please note that deleting it from our systems may not remove copies already held, reused, or reposted by other users or third parties.
10. Cookies
TideMy uses only essential cookies required for authentication and security. No advertising or analytics tracking cookies are set. You can disable cookies in your browser settings but some features may not work correctly.
11. Children's Privacy
TideMy is not directed at children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. Public community features are not intended for children under 16. If you believe a child has provided us data, contact us and we will delete it promptly.
12. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be communicated by email or an in-app notice at least 14 days before they take effect. Continued use after that date constitutes acceptance.
